On the steps of Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica, I first met Laurie & Nicolas, a young couple in love with such passion for living. From Laurie’s laughter to Nicolas’ smooth dance steps and the way he looked at her, I couldn’t help fall in love with this couple. Their’s is a true love story as touching as a Nicolas Sparks novel.
For much of their two year romance Laurie, a competitive figure skater, has battled stage four cancer. Her courage and determination Nicolas says, is what inspired him to plan an epic marriage proposal – one that she would never forget. For eight months Nicolas dedicated himself to learn figure skating and perform a special routine just for her. Following his public performance and on bended knee, Nicolas proposed marriage – cue the tears, how romantic is that!
It was such a blessing to meet this sweet couple & explore old Montreal, along with my good friends, photographers Julie Dessureault, Barbara Ann & Cassie Kos. The icing on the cake – enjoying a cold beer and a hockey game at pub as we chatted about their plans for a spring wedding next year. Love is a moment that lasts forever. There are just no words to describe how much I love photographing love stories like theirs.
